| Hummnn... What to tell?
==The Job Front==
I love my job, I really do. I'm working at a small Bridal shop, for the forgetful or less-well-informed. However, the last weeks or so has been very, very rough. I just wish some of our clients would be a little more understanding. We're doing the VERY BEST we can do to make sure they get their dresses with time to spare for alterations, but we can't yell at the supplier (yes, ONE certain supplier!!) any more than we already have... and I'm pretty pissed at them otherwise. Thus, I'm plugging other suppliers products.
And everybody here... please, for the love of God, if you're ordering Bridesmaids dresses, not only make sure you give yourself four months, and make sure all your BMs put their deposits down in the same week. Same day if you can manage it. That's really where we're getting some major problems--we had to wait on a couple of Brides' BMs, who pushed us back from a comfortable ship date to a more nerve-wracking one. GR! I love working with our customers, but I do not like dealing with close ship-dates.
Oh! Anybody mildly interested in pretty dresses: http://rayliadesigns.com We picked up a new designer, and I really love their stuff. Check out their featured BM/Occasion dress in the gold and gold lace. I love it. Upper right corner of the main site, and on home.php, design 7878L. I'm thinking about picking one up for the next nice event.
==School==
Still working on a big paper/project I should have had done a long time ago. *Sigh.* Can't seem to pick it up again, and I can't seem to get anywhere with it. If anyone wants to talk about the Southern Migration of the early 20th Century, gimme a buzz.
Must square away financial aide. Can't seem to get motivated to do a FAFSA, but I really want to finish my taxes before that. Which I SHOULD DO, because I'm sure I'll get at least a little money back. Anybody want dinner to do my taxes for me?I wanna be done with school. Odd, being that I want to be a teacher. Maybe it's a control thing. I want to be in control of my life, out of school, and in control of a bunch of kids' education?Does that make me a freak?
==The Camarilla==
Is is bad that it seems that all that's keeping me sane is the Cam? And Todd. I am rather enjoying the LARPs. Mage, Werewolf and Requiem, by the way. They call my ADC job "Community Relations" which is apparently a better title than "Charities, Fundraisers and Conventions"--all of which I'm doing. Check out the MI Con website.
==Personal Life==
Todd and I are still doing great. I love my tie to sanity.I'm 24 now, as of 8/11. Todd's helping me get a corset. I'm quite looking forward to meeting with Astrid about it, which I'm looking at perhaps Thursday--if it works for her. Ingrid's talking about coming along to check out the bath sundries.
I've been watching a lot of "Angel" lately. Odd that I have now watched 4 complete seasons of Angel, and have only seen one episode of Buffy.
We're going to the Ren Fest sometime in September. I should have Todd's doublet done by then, and Ingrid's talked about wanting help on an outfit. Should be fun.
Oh, and it seems like half the Camarilla Domain is now living in my apartment complex. Yay. :D
Um... I don't know what to write now.

| 2006's Observations at CMU A few of these have follow-up explantions, but some stand alone.
Why is it that everyone avoids the front row? At least I'm not surrounded by kids in this class.
Apparently faux blondes have problems remembering parking etiquitte. This is not the first time I've shouted at a vulture.
Reserved!? The parking lot is reserved?! For whom! Apparently not for people who pay $200 for the right to not find a spot.
If it's "best selling" and 156 pages, why is it $26.50? Because apparently I'll pay it.
Handwriting is the victim of education.
Circumstance makes hypocrites of us all.
Once you throw the f-bomb at someone in an argument, everyone loses. Godwin's Law can be extended.
Just when you think the parking' situation is improving... Ten minutes late for class.
Family I
don't know if I want to go there. I'm not going to, aside from
mentioning that I'm not getting some support that I had expected. And
no, bricks won't help.
Todd is doing well, despite getting (seasonally) laid off from his job. He's looking great, starting classes this semester.
School
After
some re-evaluation, I figure I have two years left. This semester and
the fall semester to finish my Major and Minor classes, and then next
January I can enroll in CMU's Accellerated Teaching
program. The begining of this semester depressed me especially. Going
over finances and how much I DON'T make a Target isn't fun. Looking at
how much debt I have isn't fun either. I just want to be done with
classes, married, and into a house and a salaried career so I can pay
off those loans ASAP.
On the upside, apparently I qualify for Phi Theta Alpha, the National History Honor Society.
Work
Also
depressing. Particularly when not only is my job tedious, but it's
rather redundant, and if the other teams were more careful, would be
unnecessary and irrelavant. I hate working at 6 or 7am, I hate only
having 4 hour shifts, and I hate that my hours are being cut next
week--yeah! I only work one day next week. How the hell am I going to
make rent if they keep this up? I haven't been able to substitute teach
because they typically work me weekday mornings, so...?
I have an application in at Hall of Heroes
(cute gamer girl, comic/game store... peas and carrots!)--but Mike
doesn't know if he'll need more help this year. I'm hoping he's not
just being polite and accepted my resume because I asked him if he
needed help and told him that I'd love working there.
I'm also
talking to the new owner of a bridal shop here in town, but I don't
know how that'll turn out. I stopped by the shop a few weeks ago after
looking at a lovely blue (not white...) dress in the window that I just
had to look at a bit closer and she said she may need help in a month
or two.
So I'm crossing my fingers.
Camarilla Stuff
WoD Mortals/Mafia People
seem to be more interested in playing GTA: Mount Pleasant than
Godfather. More doing whacky illegal messed-up sh*t than business and
heists... *sigh* Which means that probably between school starting
again and me picking up the Mage TT venue, I'm going to have to drop a
venue and Mortal will probably be it. I was very sad when Mortal
shifted from PC-vs-The Strange Other & NPC to PC-vs-PC & NPC
and thought I could handle it, thought I could handle some sort of
leadership position...
Requiem I've been having a lot of
fun with this venue lately. Sofia (my PC) even got a bit of plot. A
teensy one, but my own little bit of plot nonetheless--Sofia had been
following around other people's plot for a while, but now! I'm very
excited, mostly because the player whom I'll be interacting with the
most in the plot is now going to get to play more often! Yay for that!
A little bit socio-political, but more... character development.
Mage LARP Having
a great time here, and mostly because of character interactions, not
big plot, though big plot has affected how these characters relate to
each other. I also like how most of our adversaries aren't each other,
something to which there are some exceptions, but the theme of
the game that Steve seems to be running isn't so PC-vs-PC. It's a very
nice difference. Still need to write out a more extensive background
for Banfáith in preparation for that Legacy (Skald)
I want to put up an application to gain. All in all, it should be very
easy to get as that is pretty much the character's concept.
Mage TT Still
getting things up in and running. I've got a great group of players so
far, even though we need one more to round out the venue offically. I'm
talking to a few people right now, but if any of you all are
interested, let me know. Now we just need to start on time.
Misc I
also need to run an L5R one-shot at Hall of Heroes soon. Again, if
anyone's interested, let me know. I have a few basic modules that I can
run without much effort, but need more than one player.
ADC Charities & Fundraisers Going well. We have TWO blood drives on Tuesday January 23 and Wednesday January 24 at the Towers Complex.
The
Con is slated for the fourth Saturday in February, that's the 24th. Not
much more to say on that, but it should be at Powers Hall. We're still
waiting on confirmation for that, but it's not going to be nearly as
big as the last one, given that circumstances dictated that the staff
drop the ball for MI Con 2006--but we ARE going to have one.
Miscellaneous I cleaned out my car. Mostly. Some bottles need to be returned for their deposits. I need to check its oil level.
My apartment needs cleaning. The kitchen looks pretty nice presently, but the living room and especially my room need work.
I
can't sleep. I've been having trouble sleeping lately. I don't know if
it's because of all that's been happening and rolling about in my head,
or because I've been staying up late over break... Probably a
combination.
My phone isn't getting any service. Calling the parents tomorrow about that. On Todd's phone.
I'm going to try to get some sleep before work.
Sorry for depressing you all.

| What American accent do you have? Your Result: North Central "North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. | - Turn It AgainSo...
I know my mother already had suspicions, but yeah... Todd is the devil!
Okay, so not really. But he played the part in Central Audio Theater's
production of "Tribulations."
You can hear it streaming at that link I provided, or search iTunes for
"Central Audio Theater" and download the podcast for free. :) I got to
sit in the studio at WMHW when they aired it and LeAnne, Luke K, Todd
and another actor did commentary. Wisely, they did not give me a
microphone.
ICC (an International Camarilla ((live action role-play)) convention)
is in a little over a week! Yay! So excited. It's all the way in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin--but my grandfather gave me the down-low on the
best route to go by since he's a bus driver and out that way a lot.
Still, it's about a six hour drive--more when one adds rest stops. But
so far it looks like Todd, Mike, and I are going to caravan it with
Jayson, Andrea, Tanya and LeAnne--leaving ol' Mt. Pleasant around 10am
next Wednesday. Yay, ICC!
Anyway, today is LeAnne's birthday and I've got to go make sure Todd
(who worked last night) is ready to go to Bennigan's in an hour.
Take care all,
-Jen | | |
